2 Free Digital Tools To Help You Get Your Blog On
Blogging is one of the most powerful tools in your digital toolkit. These tools will help!
I have been blogging since before I became a digital marketer… so a long freaking time!
And I love it.
When I do digital trainings, I always encourage folks who aren’t already blogging to start.
Here are my 3 reasons why:
It’s great for SEO (beyond building your site properly at the outset, there’s no better way to improve your SEO than blogging)
It shows you’re an expert in your field
It creates bridges from your social media to your website
I did an episode of Step Up Your Social (#13) on the topic, if you want to dive deeper. You can listen to it here or wherever you stream podcasts.
So that’s the WHY you should be blogging.
Now let’s look at 2 tools that will help with the how.

Keyword research is an important part of blogging, if you want to drive traffic to your site via Google and other search engines.
There are very impressive tools that will help you go deep on this (and I mean deep!). But many of them are in the $100/month range.
This is a very simple version. But it’s free.
If you need better data, it’s out there. You’ll just have to pay for it. But this should get you started.
Head here.
You’ll see I stuck with the phrase “social media for nonprofits.”
It then lists out keywords based on volume (how often folks search that word/phrase on Google) and difficulty (how hard it will be to rank for that word/phrase on Google).
When it comes to keywords, the sweet spot is a decent amount of volume with a low level of difficulty. But obviously, those are hard to find.
But that’s why we do keyword research!
There’s no reason to work hard to rank for a word or phrase if no one is searching for it. And if you’re trying to rank for a keyword that competes with Amazon or Walmart… we’ll good luck!
Look for the opportunities and blog away!
FREE or FREEmium: Free!
This is a totally free tool.
